Jason Westrol, son of former CJ Hawks coach Randy
Westrol, was named Player of the Year in the NE-10
Conference. Jason is a senior at Bentley University and was
also selected to the All-Conference first team for the
second year in a row. Be sure to read the

Stonehill College was named Defensive player of the year
in the NE-10
- Matt Mullery (St. John Vianney), Brown
University (D-I) was named 1st team All Ivy League for
the 2nd year in a row and was named to the ESPN Magazine
1st Team All-American Academic team
- Craig Woehnker (CBA) is starting for
Merrimack College (DII) and will play in the NCAA D-II
upcoming tournament
- Matt Cohen (Manasquan) is starting for
Caldwell College (D-II)
- Andrew Bynum (St. Joe's-Metuchen) was a LA
Lakers lottery pick out of high school
Alexa
Ryan (Raritan) and Kenny Reid (Christian Brothers Academy)
were awarded the 2009 Central Jersey Hawks
Richard Conover Memorial Scholarship,
given to long-time Hawk players who demonstrate hard work and
commitment towards the game of basketball. Alexa, a 4-year varsity
starter and 1600 point scorer in High School, will be attending
Ramapo College in the Fall. Kenny will be attending Providence
College.

Bob Martorelli's 16U girls team went 11-3 during the
two biggest July 2009 college recruiting tournaments. At Penn
State, the team went 5-2 and finished in 11th place out of 64
teams in the Continental Bracket. In the U.S. Junior Nationals
tournament, held in Washington DC, the team went undefeated
in pool play and posted another win in the Silver Bracket before
dropping a quarter-final game to the CJ Hawks- Bowler team.
Mary Beth Chambers/Bowler’s 15U girls team capped
a very successful season by winning the prestigious Nike/US
Junior National 17U Silver Division Championship in Washington
D.C. The Hawks were 5-0 in pool play, and then defeated, in
succession, the Illinois Hustle, CJ Hawks (Martorelli), Mid-Penn
Motion at the buzzer, and, finally, the nationally renowned
Philadelphia Belles in the finals. Other highlights for the
team included a 2nd place finish in the 16U NJ State AAU tournament,
and an impressive performance at Penn State in front of a slew
of college coaches during the open period in July. Also, the
team was one of only 50 in the East invited to the Big Mac Attack
held at Villanova that same week.
Randy Westrol and Tom Fontana's U-12 Girls Team completed
a very successful season by finishing 18th out of 64 teams at
Division 1 Nationals in Kingsport , Tennessee .The girls went
2-1 in pool play before losing a tough 4 point game to the St.
Louis Triple Threat in the championship bracket..They then beat
Cardinal Allen, Kentucky Blast and Oklahoma Magic before losing
by 3 points to the Western Pa. Bruins in the consolation bracket
final.
